Theft of Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

Between 03:30 on the 20th of March 2026 and 08:40 on the 23rd of March 2026, a theft of a vehicle occurred in [Woods Avenue, Hatfield.

Vehicle was left on Woods Avenue, on the 20th of March and when victim reattended Woods Avenue on the 23rd of March to collect the vehicle, it was no longer at the location, offender(s) are unknown and not sure which direction offenders left the scene.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
